Canada 1) then they can not move over to the other team (ie. Canada 2) but otherwise we are not restricted to the heights of the dogs. I hope that makes sense :)

Today was a warm-up day with USDAA's Grand Prix and Steeplechase tournament classes being offered. Most of the team opted to play in the classes and made an impressive showing. For those who don't know USDAA, Grand Prix is a Masters Standard type of course and Steeplechase, well we know what that is :) In the Steeplechase there are 2 rounds, only a top percentage move on to the second round. The team walked away with many Q's in each class and many of them moved into the second round of Steeplechase! Kayl and Slyce came 4th in Grand Prix and Fred and Tanafon came 2nd in the Steeplechase finals! We think this team is ready to take on the World!!!!!!!

Team Canada's stands After the events finished the 2012 IFCS World Championships Opening Ceremonies took place. Tracy announced that Kayl McCann and Tiffany Salmon would be carrying our flag for the ceremony. It is to honour their two incredibly talented 10 year old border collies - Slyce and Rio. It was also in honour of Ping Pong, Kayl's other dog who played in every IFCS World Championship up until this year who is at home and not feeling well...we are thinking about you Ping Pong and missing you here!

Tracy announcing who will carry the flag (those are good tears ;))

Tracy making everyone laugh after she tried to make us all cry :)Team Canada!

Normally we would have had a team dinner but the event ran later than expected so after the ceremonies the team headed back to the hotel for a free night. It was quite busy but with only a few minor glitches with luggage we all made it through to the gate in time to watch the dogs get loaded onto the plane. Giddy Up, Favor and Batman all flew in the cabin with us, you would never have known they were all so quiet. The flight was uneventful, actually arriving a few minutes early. We made our way to the baggage area to pick up our luggage and the dogs.

Favor waits for the big dogs to come off the plane

Tiffany and Rio make it through Customs!

After getting all the dogs and handlers safely off the plane and transported by bus to the hotel, some of the team visited the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards for some local history, cowboy culture, and just a little shopping.

Shopping for boots with Team Manager Tracy Sklenar!WEDNESDAY

Today we finally got to the big show and our final destination at the Will Rogers Equestrian Centre. After check-in and measuring, we had a short warm-up session to familiarize dogs and handlers with the surface and equipment. We also set up in our home for the next 4 days and immediately decorated with a splash of Canadian style! Tomorrow, we look forward to some competitive agility with the USDAA warm-up events, Grand Prix and Steeplechase.

Tanafon makes sure we get to the venue on time.Mec is decked out in Canadian styleThe ring is ready!

Team Practice Day 2

We had another very successful pre-Worlds team practice at Royackers today. First thing this morning Tracy set up one of the AKC World Team Tryout courses used this past weekend. The course had some great challenges but all the dogs did great! The teams worked on fine tuning back sides of jumps and contacts before moving onto the rules of the Team Relay. Everyone worked on short sequences to passing on the baton and finished with a competitive game of pass the water bottle (baton stand in).

Practice ended just around noon to allow Susan and Adrian to hit the road with their RV's. The rest of the team had a free afternoon to do any last minute errands or relax. Tomorrow will be a very early day for the team as we will be flying out first thing so we can be in Texas before the major heat of the day.

Thank you to Back on Track, CDM Creations and Crazy Dog Treats!!After lunch we got right back to work, each of the teams running a Gamble course and finishing with a Snooker course where everyone ran a 4 red & 4 seven opening. A very busy day indeed but lots of really great work from these teams. The day ended with everyone receiving a bag full of goodies donated from our wonderful sponsors - A huge THANK YOU goes out to Back on Track, CDM Creations and Crazy Dog Treats!

Another big thank you goes to Joanne and Karissa (her 4yr old daycare child) who made us the special bags for our sponsor donations. They were a huge hit with all the team.
